About The Position

Nucor Data Systems is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to lead the Design, Engineering, and Quality Systems Team. This pivotal role will drive company profitability, foster teammate development, and ensure operational success. The Engineering Department Manager will develop and lead a team dedicated to developing efficient, high-performance containment and cabinet data products tailored to the evolving needs of data centers. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience in Design/ Engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, or other structural design software.
  • Strong understanding of the Material Handling Industry, Data Center infrastructure, and/or Metal Fabrication.
  • Experience managing engineering teams in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
  • Proven commitment to safety and the ability to foster a culture of safety in the team.
  • Strong alignment with Nucor's culture and core values.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able and willing to travel between NDS Manufacturing sites and customers sites. Valid U.S. driver's license required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with racking manufacturing, modular construction, or off-site fabrication.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and green building certifications, such as LEED.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) and structural simulation tools.
  • Experience with building and working withing quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Achieve Company Profit Goals: Guide and support the company in reaching profit targets and common division operational goals as outlined by the General Manager and NDS Management Team.
  • Provide Planning and Mentoring: Offer direction and mentorship in daily operations, ensuring alignment with the department's vision.
  • Drive Sales and Profit: Lead the strategic and operational efforts of the Engineering Department to contribute to overall company sales and profitability.
  • Develop Leadership: Create and implement plans to strengthen the leadership capabilities within the NDS Engineering group.
  • Strategic Positioning: Collaborate with the Division Leadership team to position the division strategically within the market.
  • Collaborate Across Departments: Work integrally with all departments within NDS to foster a cohesive work environment.
  • Manage Business Risk: Evaluate and manage risks on complex or unique projects that may fall outside the division's usual areas of focus or expertise.
  • Improve Performance: Partner with peer managers to continuously enhance individual, department, division, and group performance.
  • Benchmark for Improvement: Collaborate with other Nucor divisions to benchmark and improve operating results, competitiveness, and customer preference.
