The Engineering Change Administrator / Mechanical Design Checker manages the lifecycle of product changes (ECRs/ECOs), coordinating between engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure accuracy in designs and documentation. Key duties include initiating, tracking, and implementing revisions, reviewing impact on production/inventory, and maintaining clean records. This dual role also requires reviewing technical drawings, 3D models, and designs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5, ISO), including checking GD&T, ensuring manufacturability, and verifying dimensions. Ideal candidates require at least 2+ years of experience, CAD proficiency, and high attention to detail.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience: Previous experience in document control, manufacturing, or engineering administration.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and/or PLM software.
  • Proficiency in CAD software
  • GD&T expertise per ASME Y14.5-2018).
  • Excellent communication skills to identify & communicate design flaws.
  • Works with engineers and designers to correct discrepancies and provide feedback.
  • High level of accuracy in managing part numbers, revision levels, and documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Systems Engineering or a relevant discipline acceptable with relevant skills.
  • Background in design & drafting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Control and track Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) from initiation to closure.
  • Maintain, update, and manage revision levels for drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and specifications.
  • Facilitate reviews, impact analyses (cost, schedule), and approvals with engineering, procurement, and production departments.
  • Input and maintain accurate data within Arena Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
  • Verifies 2D/3D drawings for errors, dimensioning accuracy, and adherence to company/industry standards.
  • Role may expand to tooling and/or design work depending on capability.
