About The Position

About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate – Java to join the Consumer Technology (CT) group. CT executes the Wells Fargo Technology strategy and provides a strategic technology perspective to the lines of business (LOBs) and products we support. This role specifically supports Mortgage Sales and CRM systems, focusing on hands-on coding within application and development environments. You will work in an agile and innovative setting, contributing to the modernization and enhancement of mortgage applications that enable seamless customer experiences and internal operations. This position is part of the Career Opportunities in Development and Engineering (CODE) Program, a two-year direct-hire initiative designed to help individuals from diverse educational and professional backgrounds launch careers in technology. Whether you're a recent graduate, a coding bootcamp alum, or someone with hands-on technical experience, CODE offers a structured pathway into the tech industry—no four-year degree required. As a full-time employee in the CODE Program, you'll begin with immersive onboarding and continue with hands-on training, mentorship, and professional development. You'll be part of a collaborative cohort supported by a dedicated program management team, gaining exposure to real-world projects and building a strong foundation in data engineering and ETL development. In this role, you will: Build and enhance user interfaces using Angular and other modern UI technologies. Implement backend services and APIs using Spring Boot and integrate with databases such as MongoDB. Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables. Document technical processes and workflows for future reference. Support testing cycles and production deployments in an agile development environment. Stay informed about emerging technologies and best practices to support continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 6+ months of Technology Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ months of Java development, gained through academic projects, professional work, or hands-on coding assignments.
  • Proficiency with Spring Boot for building and maintaining backend services and APIs that support mortgage and CRM applications.
  • Ability to develop responsive and dynamic user interfaces using Angular, including creating UI components, managing data binding, and implementing front-end functionality.
  • Knowledge of MongoDB for managing and querying data in application workflows, including designing schemas, performing CRUD operations, and working with NoSQL structures.
  • Exposure to AI concepts or tools, demonstrated through coursework, certifications, or projects (e.g., building simple models or using AI APIs).
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices, such as participating in sprints and stand-ups.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Clear and professional communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including managing email and calendars in Outlook and creating presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues or access-related concerns across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in academic or professional settings.
