About The Position

The Engineering Assistant Manager is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and preventative care of all building systems—including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, life safety, and mechanical infrastructure. This role leads the Engineering team, ensuring timely response to work orders, adherence to safety standards, effective execution of preventive maintenance programs, and the overall functionality and appearance of the property.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of engineering management or leadership experience, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort; background in Mechanical, Electrical, Facilities Management, or a related trade.
  • Excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive technical knowledge, including the ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and mechanical system layouts.
  • Strong time‑management and project‑management skills: ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to operate all computer equipment necessary to perform the job; knowledge of HotSOS preferred/is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively across departments; proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day‑to‑day engineering operation, ensuring that maintenance standards, service expectations, and departmental goals are met consistently.
  • Manage, train, schedule, and evaluate Engineering team members; provide coaching, feedback, and daily oversight to ensure exceptional performance.
  • Oversee the work order/request system, ensuring timely completion, prioritization, and follow‑up on all engineering tasks.
  • Direct the execution and continuous improvement of preventative maintenance programs, ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of hotel equipment and systems.
  • Maintain accurate logs, inspections, compliance records, stock movement reports, and utility consumption data; analyze trends and recommend improvements.
  • Support and contribute to the hotel’s energy conservation initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Manage and supervise outside contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure quality workmanship and timely project completion.
  • Prepare and approve work orders, requisitions, and purchasing needs, partnering with the Director of Engineering and Purchasing as required.
  • Lead responses to emergency situations such as fire alarms, power failures, floods, or equipment malfunctions, ensuring team alignment and guest safety.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with employees, residents, guests, and vendors while modeling Four Seasons professionalism and service standards.
