The Maintenance Manager reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for coordinating maintenance and utility services necessary to support the manufacturing operation including but not limited to: (i) prioritizing/planning/scheduling predictive, preventative and breakdown work orders (ii) assigning tasks to Maintenance technicians (iii) modifying scheduled work based on changing priorities (iv) troubleshooting plant problems and implementing solutions and (v) maintaining service records for critical facility equipment (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & DCS). Also responsible for meeting established budgets and managing projects from inception to completion. Managing contractors and the overall Process Safety Management (PSM) contractor program; and preparing / implementing projects with clear objectives that follow safety, quality, time, and cost guidelines. In support of the plant quality management system (ISO 9001) will provide ongoing troubleshooting and repair of plant equipment.

  • Organize maintenance to manage and address EHS, Quality, and daily maintenance issues effectively, as well as the Preventative Maintenance (PM) program.
  • Work with the Azusa management team to establish mechanisms for measuring equipment reliability and its impact on operations; managing the process to improve results continuously.
  • Directly supervise maintenance department mechanics and electricians.
  • Execute defined capital plan to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Develop capital planning, CAR submission, reporting, and all other project related activities to support Project Engineer.
  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance as required by PSM, legal requirements, ISO9000 and sound engineering and business practices.
  • Establish, monitor, and measure maintenance objectives for continuous improvement, as well as managing and reducing costs.
  • Manage the site utilities, including the wastewater treatment and fire protection systems, with a focus on maximizing reliability, meeting all permit / EHS requirements, and reducing costs.
  • Coordinate onsite contractors and manage the overall contractor program.
  • Provide technical / engineering support to maintenance and unit operations including maintenance, troubleshooting and improvements to the DCS control system.
  • Five or more years of experience in Maintenance and/or Engineering at the plant level, with a strong background in Maintenance management preferably in a chemical plant environment.
  • Experience in project management with projects exceeding $100,000 preferred.
  • Background in E&I, with PLC and DCS experience.
  • Strong background in EHS and PSM.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to lead crews and improve performance.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills (SAP, Microsoft Office, DCS/PLC, etc.).
  • Knowledge/experience with process/mechanical equipment, DCS / PLC systems, piping, material handling equipment, heavy equipment etc.
  • Math skills (including weights, measures, and conversions).
  • Process troubleshooting skill.
  • Knowledge of OSHA/PSM, EPA, and other applicable codes and standards.
