The Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining the hotel’s facilities, systems, and equipment to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning environment for guests and team members. This role supports the Engineering team by performing preventative maintenance, responding to repair requests, and ensuring that the property remains in excellent working condition.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in hotel engineering, facilities maintenance, or building maintenance preferred
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs independently
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment
  • Professional and service-oriented demeanor
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and move throughout the property for extended period
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach while performing maintenance tasks
  • Ability to work with tools and mechanical equipment

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on hotel equipment, systems, and facilities
  • Respond to maintenance requests from guests and team members in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas to ensure functionality and safety
  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems as needed
  • Conduct regular inspections of building systems and equipment
  • Assist with maintaining tools, equipment, and engineering workspaces
  • Support energy conservation and sustainability initiatives when applicable
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and company policies
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to support smooth hotel operations
  • Adhere to Makeready’s Guiding Principles
  • Perform additional duties and assignments as required
