About The Position

Our client, a major energy and utilities company, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Nuclear Engineer to provide technical leadership and expertise in support of nuclear plant operations. This Capital Projects Electrical Engineer position is located at our Jupiter West Corporate office and requires a minimum of 12 years of collective nuclear experience in US nuclear power plants. The successful candidate will work independently on advanced engineering tasks, serve as a technical consultant, and provide backup for supervision while leading nuclear projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Professional Engineer license preferred and may substitute for degree).
  • Minimum 12+ years of collective nuclear experience in US nuclear power plants . (International experience and experience from other industries such as fossil, wind, solar, geothermal, transmission/distribution, oil and gas, petrochemical are not considered equivalent for this role).
  • Significant expertise in nuclear plant operations and engineering project management, with a greater emphasis on design/project engineering than project management.
  • Advanced experience with 10CFR50.59, applicable industry and nuclear standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of the nuclear industry standard design process and independent design verification.
  • Strong leadership and project coordination capabilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with computational tools such as ETAP, EDISON for power systems analysis.
  • NSCA/safe shutdown analysis (Appendix R/NFPA 805) and project oversight experience.
  • Prior experience as a cognizant/oversight engineer.
  • Experience with our client's specific nuclear power plants (e.g., Seabrook, Point Beach, St. Lucie, Turkey Point).

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for nuclear projects and coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Perform advanced engineering tasks and special projects requiring original concepts and high-level expertise.
  • Resolve high-stakes technical challenges with little to no precedence.
  • Apply nuclear industry standards and regulations to new situations.
  • Facilitate team actions for problem solving, including conflict resolution.
  • Provide technical interface with engineering firms on project development.
  • Prepare and review engineering documents using applicable industry and regulatory standards (e.g., 10CFR50.59).
  • Prepare/review design output documents including design changes, calculations, specifications, and procurement specifications for internally developed design changes.
  • Conduct independent design verification and prepare stand-alone electrical calculations.
