Entergy’s Power Generation group operates a fleet of more than 30 owned, leased, or operated natural gas, coal, oil hydro, solar and petroleum coke plants, with a total engineering capacity exceeding 20,000 megawatts. Entergy continues to build or acquire megawatts from new hydrogen capable natural gas units, solar, wind and other technologies complement its existing megawatts of nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric, and solar facilities. This position will be filled as a Technical Support Specialist II - Sr. based up on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: Responsible for developing, implementing and managing improvement projects, and/or provide diagnostic subject matter expertise to enhance the overall reliability, efficiency and safety of the plant. Position can exist in the following environments: Plant, Plant Support, or Fleet Maintenance. Ensures all work is completed in accordance with Entergy procedures and within compliance guidelines (SoX, EH&S, NERC, etc).

Requirements

  • Minimum education: High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum experience: Technical Support Specialist, II: 2-4 years of power plant or relevant technical experience is preferred.
  • Technical Support Specialist, III: 4-6 years of power plant or relevant technical experience is preferred.
  • Technical Support Specialist, Sr.: 6+ years of power plant or relevant technical experience is preferred.
  • Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities: Proficiency in all applications of the Microsoft Toolkit.
  • Must possess good computer skills.
  • Ability to work independent of direct supervision.
  • Good communication skills also required.
  • Duties often require call outs and work after normal hours.
  • Be able to keep records and reports.

Nice To Haves

  • Desired: Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or B.S. Degree in Science in a technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct root cause analysis and prepare reports for management use.
  • Provide primary or backup technical support for various plant system and processes.
  • Utilize experience, knowledge, and online monitoring systems and tools to analyze, trend, and monitor plant equipment performance data in an effort to improve plant operation.
  • Provide technical support to maintenance, outage, and smaller capital projects.
  • Technical Lead on specific / complex projects.
  • Technical Lead on compliance related areas of responsibility and support sites compliance within guidelines (NERC, CIP, EH&S, etc.)
  • Schedules contractors to perform work and manages all associated budgets.
  • Closing out contracts and resolving invoice issues as needed.
  • Participating in the Accrual process as required.
  • Participating in the budget development process.
  • Support equipment problem solving, condition assessments, and represent Entergy during OEM discussions or shop repairs.
  • Plant Support assignments may engage in diagnostic services (vibration analysis, off-line motor testing, Infra-red, performance testing, vacuum leak-detection, etc.).
