Job Summary The VC Summer Engineering department is seeking an Engineer, Sr Engineer, or Staff Engineer for a position in the Maintenance Support Engineering area. The desired candidate will have a background in mechanical or civil engineering. There is one position which will be ï¬lled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Primary area of focus will be mechanical component engineering in support of an operating nuclear power plant. Previous experience working with pumps, valves, piping systems, HVAC and fans, or other mechanical systems is desired. Specifically, background in air operated valves (AOV), motor operated valves (MOV), in-service testing (IST), and/or Appendix J Program implementation is preferred. Speciï¬c duties include monitoring and trending of component health, generation of periodic reports and presentations to management team, and preparation of engineering technical evaluations, design changes, and calculations of mechanical components. Develop maintenance plans and evaluate abnormal conditions for assigned components. Provide engineering support of operational and maintenance activities during power operation and plant outages. Perform walkdowns, investigations, and develop corrective actions. InSupport Emergency Response Organization. Performs and/or reviews engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. Provides cost analysis as needed and develops recommendation based on calculations (e.g. cost for equipment upgrade) for management review. Increased complexity in application of engineering skills required. Under direction of supervisor or work leader, exercises independence in evaluating, selecting and applying standard or well-defined engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Uses independent judgment in prioritizing and making moderately complex adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require investigation of a limited number of variables.
