As a Mechanical Engineer in transformer value stream, you will play a key role in product design of devices to monitor transformer health. You will be designing, developing, creating prototypes, optimizing and testing. This role will interact with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, EE designers, manufacturing test engineers and peers from the global R&D organization. You will design, develop, and create 3D models, detailed mechanical drawings, BOMs, electro-mechanical parts, and gauges. The primary goal will be the design and development of new products and customizations for our Utilities and industrial customers. We use Agile development Methods and the Scrum Framework to deliver critical, customer-facing, solutions. Here’s where you’ll demonstrate your proficiency: Design complex components & assemblies with customer in mind focusing on Quality, Cost and DFM Utilize critical thinking for continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for innovation and process enhancements including but not limited to using automation and AI tools Fabricate physical prototypes for proof of concept and testing Mechanical and structural analysis as needed (FEA using SolidWorks) Present mechanical design concepts to project teams Evaluate new components, materials, and manufacturing methods for application in new and existing products. Verify acceptance criteria is met, support transition to production, and perform failure analysis on problem areas. Document features, issues, and tests in compliance with our internal processes Be able to derive configured product models from the existing products. Able to perform Engineering Change Requests that involve updating drawings and BOMs. Ensure designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements Conduct design reviews, assist in FMEA, PFMEA and supporting root cause analysis for mechanical issues
