About The Position

The Project Engineer will support all facilities across CTI Foods. The Engineer will be executing and managing capital projects, assisting with maintenance activities and environmental/regulatory programs as related to food manufacturing for fresh, cooked, and ready to eat applications. The Engineer will travel to company facilities as assignments dictate. Travel is ~30% or as needed to support projects. Home office to be based in Owingsville, KY or Saginaw, TX – TBD. This role will work closely with all levels of the plant facilities and members of the Engineering team.

Requirements

  • Lean Manufacturing Engineering experience in a food processing environment is preferred. Certifications in Continuous Improvement a plus. Must be willing to train and learn Lean processes and Reliability Maintenance.
  • BS in an engineering discipline with minimum of 2 years working in the food manufacturing industry doing maintenance and/or engineering functions preferred.
  • Experience in process design and equipment layout, including developing concepts from sketches and editing and creating multi-view drawings and subassemblies using AutoCAD software.
  • Experience and/or ability to manage regulatory programs for environmental compliance.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial electrical controls and automation, including PLC.
  • Experience compiling and presenting engineering documentation and data in Excel, Word, etc.
  • Applicant must be well-organized, detail oriented, and a self-starter with demonstrated capacity to learn new technologies and work successfully in a team environment.
  • Must have strong technical problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Food Manufacturing experience in Ready-to-Eat production environment with firm understanding of sanitary design.
  • Project management, cost analysis, knowledgeable in ISO, USDA and food customer regulated environments.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and conceptual skills, balanced by ability to apply common sense
  • Ability to remain flexible and adjust promptly and effectively during times of change
  • Strong negotiation, oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of necessary administrative duties to maintain and organize records, reports, or other information.
  • Skilled in presenting information or ideas concisely, accurately, and clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Skilled in analyzing and documenting simple and complex business processes.
  • Skilled in communication with a focus on listening and influencing skills.
  • Ability to articulate complex issues clearly and simply to all parties.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on participation in new product development and engineering improvements to current processes, including cost-reduction, manufacturability, functionality, and quality.
  • Prepare complete sets of drawings that involve general layout concepts in multiple views and work with others to provide detail drawings and assembly drawings of equipment, facilities or systems for use in design and implementation of industrial manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare or involve qualified outside resources to provide manufacturing calculations including energy balances, mass balances, equipment sizing calculations, etc. as applicable.
  • Oversight and/or design and implementation of industrial control and automation systems.
  • Provide technical and engineering support to all departments.
  • Research and contact vendors for outsourced materials and equipment.
  • Create and update engineering information documents.
  • Track and help push new technologies as applicable to plant processes.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies and internal management relative to ammonia refrigeration systems, wastewater, air, stormwater, hazardous/non-hazardous waste permits and chemical spill prevention and management.
  • Apply knowledge of process optimization and root cause analyses to project implementations and maintenance activity as needed.
  • Demonstrate/apply Lean tools, statistical analysis, TQM principles, value stream mapping, push/pull strategies, statistical process control, monitor for nonconformance trends and deviations, KPIs and RCA.
  • Support the Capital program for productivity improvements by ensuring scope and implementation align with standard processes.
  • Must be willing to travel extensively to effectively conduct job duties and achieve goals and objectives.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
