About The Position

The Engineer, Powerplant Lease Specialist is primarily responsible for the administration, oversight, and technical compliance of leased engines and APUs across their lifecycle. This includes lease selection, induction, configuration review, in‑service monitoring, and return condition management.  In addition to these duties, the position provides technical engineering support, regulatory analysis, and troubleshooting for powerplant systems in support of fleet reliability, compliance, and operational continuity.

Requirements

• Engineering degree preferred; will consider FAA Mechanic certificate with both Airframe and Power plant ratings in lieu of degree.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a 121 airline environment, Technical Services/Engineering Department or comparable maintenance experience preferred.

• Be familiar with and have general understanding of Engine Work Scoping, Engine Fleet Management, Time Controlled Parts, Reliability Programs, FARs, Manufacturers Documentation to include but not limited to Maintenance Manuals, IPCs, Trouble Shooting Manuals, Wiring Diagrams, Aircraft Drawings and CMMs, SBs, STCs, ADs and PMA parts

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all Tech Ops lease‑return activities for engines, APUs, and powerplant assemblies, including coordination with internal/external stakeholders to interpret contractual requirements and ensure proactive compliance with lease acquisition and return conditions.
• Review and manage engine, APU, and component configurations for induction, operational use, and lease‑return implications, ensuring all specifications and configuration‑control documentation are current and compliant with company, OEM, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop, publish, and maintain engineering data and modification instructions based on regulatory mandates, OEM guidance, industry standards, operational needs, and shop findings.
• Review ADs, Service Bulletins, regulatory requirements, engineering documents, and OEM publications for applicability, ensuring engineering documentation, procedures, and electronic systems remain accurate and up to date.
• Conduct research and gather technical data, including review of 14 CFRs and ADs, to support engineering and maintenance documentation; provide immediate AOG engineering support when approved data is unavailable.
• Monitor powerplant fleet performance—including engine condition monitoring—and implement corrective actions to maintain fleet health while minimizing cost and aircraft downtime.
• Develop and manage powerplant shop‑visit work scopes and schedules, ensuring regulatory compliance and optimized maintenance planning.
• Support reliability program analysis for assigned powerplant systems and recommend improvement actions.
• Provide technical support across Technical Services, Line Maintenance, and Heavy Maintenance, including troubleshooting, repair approvals, and material/part substitution decisions.
• Partner with the Materials organization on commercial and technical matters related to engines, APUs, and associated components.
• Collaborate with internal and external entities on powerplant‑related technical, operational, and programmatic activities, including CAMP development and optimization.
• Evaluate and determine BER disposition for engine and APU components.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
• Authority to revise and modify engineering documents and FMIS entries in accordance with company processes.
• Authority to conduct OJT training for department personnel.
• Signature authority in the Manager’s absence, within delegated limits.
• Review and modify engineering documentation within assigned authority limits.
• Review and authorize changes in FMIS and other engineering systems within assigned authority limits.
• Generate Publication Change Requests (PCRs) to modify maintenance documentation
• Creation of tracking items in FMIS
• Author engineering documents
• Generate requisitions in FMIS and engineering documentation for acquisition of required items related to regulatory and company requirements
