About The Position

Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets. Based in Houston, Texas, Saber Power offers deep subject matter expertise and uses an engineering-led approach to designing, installing, testing, and maintaining medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure. Saber serves clients locally, nationally, and abroad. Saber Power Services is currently seeking an Engineer IV to join their team. This position will play a key role in the design and execution of land development projects, including site planning, grading, drainage, utilities, and permitting for substation, switching yards, synchronous condenser and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Minimum 10 years of civil engineering experience with at least 5 years in land development for high-voltage, power delivery, or heavy industrial projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Demonstrated experience with substation site design, transmission line access development, and stormwater systems.
  • Strong understanding of utility standards, electrical yard layout constraints, and substation constructability.
  • Proven experience managing design packages, schedules, budgets, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Expert proficiency in Civil 3D, grading tools, drainage modeling, and plan production.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor project teams in a high-speed EPC environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on constructability and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee land development projects, including site layout, grading, stormwater management, and utility design.
  • Perform civil engineering calculations and prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, permitting requirements, and industry standards.
  • Collaborates with other engineering disciplines, including electrical and structural, to ensure the successful design and implementation of substation land development projects.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and assessments to ensure project feasibility and quality control.
  • Utilize CAD and civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D to create detailed plans.
  • Provide support for construction activities, including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals.
  • Assist in project management, budgeting, and scheduling to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
