About The Position

As part of the Beef/Pork Engineering Team, the Engineer IV will utilize their experience and knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, focusing on projects which support the scope and budgeting generation, design, construction, and project management of large-scale capital projects within the manufacturing network for Tyson Corporate. This position focuses on applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services focusing on Electrical. This position will report directly to the Associate Dir. Engineering and will focus primarily on Electrical Engineering functions.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Electrical Engineering work experience.
  • EXPERIENCE: 7+ years of applicable engineering experience, with a minimum of 2 years in the food industry preferred.
  • COMPUTER SKILLS: Advanced knowledge and working use of computer programs, including spreadsheets, Databases, and CAD software. Knowledge of 3-D modeling is a plus.
  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Excellent communication skills to multiple internal department leaders and plant leadership
  • Detail oriented individual with strong analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with PLC’s, HMI’s and Industrial Controls and Automation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Influential leadership skills a must.
  • Travel: Up to 50%, Multi-days stays required; Overnight stays required; ability to egress uneven surfaces in construction and plant environments safely and easily.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical subject matter expert for Beef/Pork Engineering group.
  • Stay current with National Electrical Code (NEC) revisions.
  • Ensure projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization’s established policies and objectives while meeting all code and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze system performance and develop improvement and energy conservation opportunities.
  • Provide technical advice to plants and assist with advanced electrical troubleshooting.
  • Establish and maintain Electrical specifications, standards, and other technical information in collaboration with other corporate functional areas.
  • Coordinate and manage the day-to-day operational aspects of multiple equipment and process focused projects.
  • Interface daily with Engineers and Plant network team members.
  • Monitor, report, and distribute reporting metrics to cross-functional teams regarding the status and progress of team projects.
  • Project estimating.
  • Review project CIRs for validity, scope, design QA, and network impact.
  • Review project metrics for reasonableness, improve project control through process improvement and user training.
  • Ensure integrity of system and reporting of data from multiple sources and programs.
  • Guide and assist operations and engineering teams to adhere to Tyson Engineering design specifications.
  • Create ad-hoc reports, analysis, and presentations as requested/needed.
  • Reviews electrical drawing and bid submittals and assists in performing technical bid analyses.
  • Oversees performance of plant Arc Flash Hazard Analyses and reviews corrective actions with plant personnel.
  • Undertakes critical electrical infrastructure assessments at manufacturing facilities, prepares cost estimates and implementation plans.
  • Liaises with utility companies and AHJs (Authority Having Jurisdiction) regarding additions and modification to manufacturing facility electricity supplies.
  • Reviews and analyzes electrical utility bills and rate structures and performs load studies.
  • Oversees integration of control and safety systems between individual pieces of production equipment.
  • Assists manufacturing facilities with advanced electrical trouble shooting.
  • Oversees plant power quality studies and prepares plans and budgets for corrective actions.
  • Must be capable of working on multi-faceted Electrical projects of any magnitude.
  • Demonstrated repeated ability to complete Electrical projects on time and on budget.
