We're addressing the global challenges of ending plastic waste, taking climate action, and supporting a thriving society, while generating value for our customers, investors, and society.Come Join an Inclusive TeamThe Instrument and Electrical Reliability Engineer is a member of the Chocolate Bayou site’s Maintenance and Reliability Department supporting continuous improvement in asset availability and plant performance at our world scale HDPE manufacturing facility. Working in a team environment, it carries responsibility for implementing reliability best practices, developing and optimizing preventative maintenance tasks, supporting maintenance activities, and providing expert technical support for capital projects. The position interacts with other technical groups on site (process engineering, capital projects, maintenance, and operations groups), corporate networks, and peers at two other South Texas Polymer sites (Victoria and Matagorda) as needed to resolve plant problems and improve plant safety and reliability. This is a direct hire position with LyondellBasell and includes competitive compensation and benefit packages.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- 2 years minimum relevant experience in instrumentation and electrical systems, design, installation, andmaintenance in the refining , petrochemical, or power generation industries
- Ability to manage multiple / changing priorities
- Ability to work in and lead teams
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with internal and external clients
- Strong commitment to safety, personal integrity, and ethics
- Basic proficiency in the following areas with the ability to develop into a subject matter expert in particular areas: o Industry Codes and Standards (i.e. IEEE, ISA, NFPA, NEC) o Instrumentation and measurement technology o Low and medium voltage power distribution and controls o PLC maintenance and programming o Analyzers and sample systems o Safety Instrumented Systemso Failure and reliability data analysis o Predictive and preventative maintenance strategies o Computer software tools (SAP, Microsoft Office, Meridium, ExSILentia)
Responsibilities
- Monitor equipment performance and make improvement recommendations
- Apply data analysis techniques to develop engineering solutions for repetitive failures and other problems thatadversely affect plant operations including safety, environmental, capacity, quality, cost, and regulatorycompliance issues
- Consult with peers across the site and company
- Provide technical support / expertise in the instrument and electrical field in the design and installation stages ofprojects, expense and capital, for new assets and modifications to existing assets to minimize life cycle costs andmaximize asset availability
- Lead and participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Systematically define, design, develop, monitor, and optimize asset maintenance plans that include: o Value added preventative maintenance tasks o Effective utilization of predictive condition monitoring and other non-destructive testing methodologies toproactively identify potential reliability risks
- Apply value analysis to repair / replace decisions
- Provide technical support to the process engineering, production, maintenance, and project groups
- Manage the site’s Safety Instrumented System program, including but not limited to: o Developing / maintaining SRS documentation o Evaluating test results and optimizing maintenance plans accordingly o Developing specifications for new SIS installations o Writing / maintaining procedures
