We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering intern to support New Product Development (NPD) of refrigerated merchandisers and Design to Value (DTV) cost reduction opportunities on existing product lines.

Requirements

  • Rising Junior or Senior currently pursuing BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • SolidWorks design experience
  • MS Office experience
  • Component level testing via simulation, prototyping, design of experiments, etc
  • Critical thinking, trouble-shooting and problem-solving

Nice To Haves

  • Sheet metal and weldment design experience
  • Working knowledge of refrigeration systems and components
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics and fluids

Responsibilities

  • Component and sub-assembly level part development using SolidWorks design software
  • Validation of design concepts through mechanical and performance testing in coordination with Engineering Test Lab
  • Integration of design for manufacture/design for assembly (DFM/DFA) methodologies through collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering
  • Application of value engineering methodologies to optimize new and existing product cost
  • Internal and cross-functional communication to progress designs from concept to working prototypes
  • Release of engineering documentation through change control process: models, drawings, bills of materials, etc
