Engineer Information Systems Architecture

Jefferson Health PlansPhiladelphia, PA

About The Position

Designs and implements enterprise-wide solutions for small to medium projects in alignment with organizational standards, developing configurations, test plans, and performance validations while resolving deployment issues. This role builds and maintains core routing, switching, wireless, and connectivity solutions across the enterprise, troubleshooting moderate technical issues and supporting project-driven deployments. By coordinating operational handoffs and executing structured changes with rigorous validation and configuration management, the engineer ensures reliability and contributes to technology evaluations that influence enterprise network strategy.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree
  • 2 years related work experience
  • Demonstrated competency with routing protocols such as OSPF/EIGRP and working knowledge of BGP and IPv6, with the ability to apply and validate switch and router configurations in complex network environments.
  • Strong understanding of firewall rule design, network access control (NAC) concepts, and experience implementing secure connectivity solutions, including VPN tunnel configuration and performance validation for both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking constructs (AWS VPC, Azure VNets, or GCP equivalents), hybrid connectivity solutions, and foundational knowledge of SD-WAN or emerging secure edge technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 4 years related work experience
  • Ability to conduct and interpret wireless assessments and early experience with automation workflows for network provisioning and optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Ansible or Terraform for infrastructure automation across on-premises and cloud environments, familiarity with Git-based version control for maintaining configuration integrity, and exposure to Kubernetes CNI/service networking.

Responsibilities

  • Translate high-level requirements and constraints into detailed low-level designs, including drafting solution diagrams for on-premises and cloud-integrated network architectures.
  • Implement routing structures, NAT, ACLs, and network access control policies according to security baselines, while deploying firewalls and policy objects through approved change control procedures across both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Perform migration tasks and onboarding workflows, coordinating with supporting teams to ensure seamless integration and minimal service disruption, including SD‑WAN/SASE policy cutovers where applicable.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts to standardize and accelerate repeatable tasks, improving operational efficiency and reducing manual errors.
  • Diagnose and resolve moderate technical issues across enterprise network environments, liaising with cross-functional teams to restore service and maintain reliability.

Benefits

  • Jefferson offers a comprehensive package of benefits for full-time and part-time colleagues, including medical (including prescription), supplemental insurance, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, short- and long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans, tuition assistance, as well as voluntary benefits, which provide colleagues with access to group rates on insurance and discounts.
  • Colleagues have access to tuition discounts at Thomas Jefferson University after one year of full time service or two years of part time service.
  • All colleagues, including those who work less than part-time (including per diem colleagues, adjunct faculty, and Jeff Temps), have access to medical (including prescription) insurance.
