This position is an excellent opportunity for an Engineer-in-Training – Traffic within the Public Infrastructure department. The successful candidate will assist senior staff on a variety of engineering projects, including traffic and safety analysis, development of conceptual and final design plans, pavement marking, signage, and signal plans, technical specifications, and estimates. The role also involves preparing design and feasibility reports, conducting field data collection, and assisting with proposals and presentations. The Engineer-in-Training will work closely with other civil engineering disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Civil Engineering
  • Relevant internship or 1-4 years’ experience of progressive responsibility in Traffic Engineering (recent grads considered)
  • Ability to work in team environment as an individual contributor
  • Organized and able to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently across multiple projects and deliverables
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking, judgment, and experience to define, analyze, and resolve issues

Nice To Haves

  • EIT preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Synchro preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, HCS, and Vissim a plus
  • Familiarity MUTCD, HCM, HSM, and AASHTO a plus
  • Experience with MassDOT standards and deliverables a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior staff on a variety of engineering projects
  • Perform traffic and safety analysis
