About The Position

Stanley Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Engineer-In-Training 2 to work in our Austin, TX office. In this position, you will work as a discipline lead or project engineer on a variety of Energy, Infrastructure, Federal, and International Projects. The successful candidate must have a good understanding of mechanical systems for a variety of project types including building mechanical systems such as: HVAC, plumbing, facilities design (boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors), piping layout, equipment selection, district & central heating and chilled water plants, campus-type utility distribution systems, industrial/process facilities, power and infrastructure retrofits and upgrades, and other energy infrastructure projects. The projects are of varying sizes and locations for higher education, utility, federal, GSA, municipal and industrial clients. The person in this role will have technical design responsibilities and must coordinate work with the design team and manage their work to produce high quality project documents. This individual will be expected to perform design duties with minimal supervision and have ability to communicate within a team environment. Specific duties will include design and layout of ductwork, hydronic and air piping, DDC, computer modeling/analysis of building systems, equipment specification, and procurement; and construction administration / construction site duties as needed and assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University.
  • 4 - 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Have taken and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam or scheduled to take the exam.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have a general understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Be able to perform and check engineering calculations for mechanical systems involved with piping layout, equipment selections, building & central plant heating and cooling plants, related distribution systems for infrastructure retrofits and upgrades in a variety of sizes and locations.
  • Become comfortable in sizing, selecting, and specifying equipment, and coordinating information with vendors in the areas above such as building HVAC and plumbing systems, along with boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, etc.
  • Be comfortable in performing project field site visits and backchecking drawings to ensure equipment physically conforms to the project requirements.
  • Be able to gain familiarity with computer software as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Autodesk Revit experience preferred but not required.
  • Energy modeling experience preferred but not required.
