About The Position

About the Opportunity: Saratech is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to carry out engineering assignments involving the planning, design, and testing of mechanical equipment, systems, and processes. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams and provides support to senior engineers on projects of medium complexity. The ideal candidate brings solid mechanical fundamentals, hands-on experience, and the ability to contribute effectively in a defense or aerospace engineering environment. This is a full-time position or part-time leading to full-time position located in Irvine, CA. Salary Range: Pay Grade 49 Qualifications and Experience: B achelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.M.E.) from an accredited four-year college or university Two to five years of experience in the design, analysis, and development of industrial equipment US Citizenship Required

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.M.E.) from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Two to five years of experience in the design, analysis, and development of industrial equipment
  • US Citizenship Required
  • Strong knowledge of applied thermodynamics and mechanical design principles
  • Familiarity with drawing and drafting standards
  • Experience carrying out engineering assignments involving mechanical equipment and systems
  • Hands-on testing and hardware experience required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver effective technical presentations to customers
  • Complies with all organizational policies and procedures
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all customer and/or employee information to assure customer and/or employee rights are protected
  • Adheres to policies regarding notification of absence and PTO requests
  • Attends all mandatory management and staff meetings
  • Represents the organization in a respectful and professional manner
  • Attend and comply with annual health, safety, training, and education requirements
  • Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean
  • Follow detailed complex directions, reason and problem solve
  • The person will frequently communicate and converse with other staff
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer

Nice To Haves

  • Defense or aerospace industry experience preferred
  • Experience in the development of thermal systems is a strong plus
  • Exposure to electrical circuits and control theory is a plus
  • Understanding of military specifications, environmental specifications, and test specifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical equipment, systems, and processes to meet program requirements
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses to validate design performance and suitability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the assembly, repair, and testing of environmental control systems
  • Under general supervision, execute assignments involving responsibility for a secondary project or a portion of a major project
  • Support higher-level engineers on medium-complexity projects and assist with more complex assignments as needed
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to junior engineers, designers, and drafters
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across other functional teams
  • Prepare technical documentation and written reports as required
  • Present designs and technical information to peers, engineers, and customers
