Responsibilities of the Ideal Candidate: Conduct routine walk-throughs and visually asses the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure(s) of the hotel, all related systems, and any equipment. Regularly check and complete all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, hotel rooms, back of house spaces, and grounds. Use excellent customer service and communication skills in any and all interactions with guests, including porterage and guest requests. Follow Energy Management, Water Conservation, and Preventive Maintenance programs and conduct special trailing for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy throughout the property. Communicate with the Engineer Manager on a regular basis, including the specific and overall condition of buildings, related systems, and equipment offering prudent, cost-effective proposals for maintenance. Use all company equipment, vehicles, and property with respect and care, understanding the need for safety and professionalism. Maintain a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays. Properly handle and account for keys, understanding the need for responsibility and privacy. Sustain the safety of the property though risk-management behavior, proper inspections, participation in Safety and Security Committee and knowledge of emergency procedures. Should be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace to facilitate a productive communication process. Thorough knowledge of OSHA and be able to work effectively in a team with minimal direct supervision. Physical Requirements: The minimum physical requirements for this position include but are not limited to: Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds frequently to assist guests Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff, vendors and guests a normal in-person and phone conversation Ability to bend and twist, push and pull, stoop, and kneel Ascend and descend a ladder
