As the Downstream Engineer II, you will assist in design and execution of experiments aimed at improving robustness, capacity, and productivity of commercial downstream processes in the Manufacturing Sciences – Commercial Manufacturing Support Laboratory group. Requirements

  • MS in Chemical Engineering or related disciplines; or BS in Chemical Engineering or related disciplines with a minimum of 1 year of experience.
  • Has basic knowledge of protein purification unit operations
  • Has basic understanding of data analysis and statistically driven experimental design (DoE).
  • Be able to influence, motivate, and drive technical rigor when participating on cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate teamwork/collaboration and the ability to communicate appropriately and effectively.
  • Have the attitude to proactively learn new technologies

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience in lab scale protein purification preferred
  • Experience with tech transfer and/or GMP manufacturing support preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in design and execution of experiments aimed at improving robustness, capacity, and productivity of commercial downstream processes
  • Provide experimental support and technical expertise for troubleshooting of process discrepancies
  • Maintain lab equipment; identify and implement improvements in lab operations
  • Write and review study proposals and development reports
  • Maintain process description documents and participate in product trend reviews
  • Strong interest in learning and developing proficiency with data analytics and visualization tools such as JMP, SIMCA, and Power BI etc.
  • Under supervision, plan and execute experimental studies
  • Assist in analyzing complex technical problems, then finding and implementing solutions.
  • Provide input to departmental management towards making functional decisions.
  • Work closely with his/her supervisor and coworkers in managing multiple work streams and projects.
  • Internally, this individual will represent the group to support manufacturing as a customer, with close interactions with the internal business partners including PD, QA, RA and ENG within Takeda.
  • Externally, this individual will interact with vendors who may supply materials or equipment both used in the small-scale development lab and in large- scale manufacturing.
