About The Position

Respond to all service calls within half hour from time call is received. Determine defects, trouble-shoot malfunctions, take immediate necessary corrective action if guest related/top priority or scheduled for completion within 2 days and record same on the departmental work order form. Follow specific departmental procedures in efficiently performing repair, maintenance, alteration and installation work. Comply with the latest local, county, state and federal governmental codes, laws and requirements. Upkeep and maintain grounds for Lemon Bar. Assist with daily Lemon Bar set up. Coordinate with other department personnel such as electrician, carpenter, painter and night engineer in completing service, replacement, alteration and new installation work.  Efficiently adjust televisions and program Spectradyne boxes.  Carefully and efficiently paint, stain or repair interior and exterior finishes. Change light bulbs and ballasts as soon as reported or noticed. Record daily, weekly and monthly temperature and pressure readings. Be familiar with and maintain all fire safety equipment operations and implement emergency procedures when required. Respond to any HVAC calls or essential bar equipment calls as a priority. Produce accurate logs, charts and preventive maintenance forms. Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Previous hotel engineering experience required, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, commercial kitchen and general building construction
  • Understand and efficiently maintain and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and boiler systems.
  • Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings and technical parts breakdown.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Work in a hot or cold environment.
  • High work ethic and self-initiative.
  • Regular attendance according to established guidelines.
  • May be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Focus and maintain attention to multiple tasks and priorities, and complete work assignments on time despite frequent interruptions, including in high pressure situations.
  • Ability to maintain excellent relationships with staff and maintain staff and guest confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to converse calmly with upset associates, superiors and guests in intense emotional situations.
  • Understanding and adherence to Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) documents, as well as hotel safety procedures.
  • Stand, sit and walk for varying lengths of time
  • Safely climb ladders and stairs
  • Lift approximately fifty (50) pounds
  • Ability to push approximately one hundred (100) pounds
  • Work environment can be extremely hot or cold at times.
  • Efficiently and safely operate machinery and equipment such as key cutter, drill press, radial arm saw, drills, grinders, etc.
  • Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability and visual ability
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line tone tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers and other office equipment as needed
  • Must be ok working in an outdoor bar and outdoor hotel setting
