About The Position

As an Engineer II – Social Commerce, you’ll play a key role in integrating Best Buy with 3 rd parties to enable their fast growing ad tech space and drive engineering solutions that have a real impact on the customers/business. Your day-to-day will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams and making critical technical decisions to optimize our platforms. Successful candidates bring deep expertise in quality assurance and a strong track record with end-to-end software development life cycles. This role is remote, which means you will work virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. What you’ll do Work with product teams to refine requirements and propose customer-focused solutions. Design and implement scalable, high-performance, and configurable platforms aligned with future needs leveraging Java and Google tools such as Dataflow, Cloud Run Functions, and Big Table Maintain high standards of quality and oversee deployment and production monitoring of changes. Support go-live events for onboarding new 3 rd parties to . Make critical technical decisions to optimize pricing and deal experiences across platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a highly quantitative field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, etc).
  • 3 or more years of experience building scalable, high-performance mobile and/or web applications using Java.
  • 4 or more years of experience with advanced concepts like asynchronous programming and modular architecture.
  • Solid understanding of Google tools such as DataFlow, Cloud Run Functions and storage tools such as Big Query and Big Table.
  • Hands-on experience with testing tools such as Spock Framework.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with modern reusable UI frameworks and design systems (Material UI, Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap).
  • Familiarity with SSR/SSG and API integration in Next.js for high-performance applications.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployment (GCP).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debug issues using tools such as Grafana, and Dynatrace.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, agile environments.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with product, design, and backend teams.
