About The Position

Collins Aerospace is seeking a highly motivated Engineer II, Project Engineering, to join our dynamic, multi-disciplinary team within the Supplier Designed Equipment (SDE) Electro-Mechanical Interface Device(s) (EMIDs) group in the Engine Control Systems (ECS) organization. This role involves executing engineering tasks in a fast-paced environment, focusing on the development and integration of components for engine programs. As a Project Engineer II, you will collaborate closely with suppliers and customers to design, develop, and audit processes for aerospace components for both commercial and military engine programs. You will be responsible for all technical aspects of electromechanical devices that interface with electronic controls with mechanical systems. As an established Project Engineering professional working autonomously with limited supervision, you will direct phases of programs from inception through completion. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Tracking and coordination of Engineering Change (EC) activities, Supplier Requests for Information (SRIs), Deviations, and Supplier Managed Work Transfers (SMWT) through effective and timely collaboration across various departments including Program Management Office, Supplier Quality, Program Quality, Service Engineering, Aftermarket Program Management, Supply Chain Management and Procurement
  • Address procurement challenges and support process audits per Hamilton Sundstrand certification requirements.
  • Investigate issues resulting in component removals and implement Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Support process improvement and Engineering Standard Work documentation.
  • Generate and maintain supplier audit and assessment schedules with clearly understood dependencies and deliverables.
  • Provide clear, concise and timely communication with peers, Collins leadership, and Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Implement and utilize CORE Tools and processes to ensure process turnbacks are captured and eliminated.
  • Read and interpret drawings, provide markups, and coordinate drawing releases.
  • Review supplier technical capabilities.
  • Support system and component requirements reviews and compliance assessments as needed by the business.
  • Manage project assignments with the various functional organizations to ensure alignment with overall project objectives
  • Prepare and maintain project plans and budget requirements to ensure that all action item lists are completed and project quality expectations are met
  • Estimate costs, resources, and time required to complete projects to ensure business targets are met
  • Identify and escalate project problems and support resolutions to ensure the successful completion of projects
