About The Position

Under general supervision, plan, organize, manage, and execute designated instrument and control engineering projects and programs, ensuring successful completion of all phases within appropriate schedule and cost. You will perform and oversee execution of engineering design tasks for assigned projects, including modeling, calculations, drawings, and specifications while maintaining accurate records throughout the project life cycle. In this role, you develop, prepare, and review technical documentation and reports to support design decisions and project requirements, participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate engineering solutions into overall project plans, and conduct design reviews and evaluate vendor proposals to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company requirements. As an Instrument/Control Engineer II, you utilize engineering software and tools to model, simulate, and analyze design components, assist in resolving technical issues during construction and commissioning phases, continuously improve design processes and contribute to knowledge sharing within the project office, and perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrument/Control Engineering or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years related experience in engineering or related scientific field; OR
  • Master’s degree in Instrument/Control Engineering or related Engineering discipline and two (2) years related experience in engineering or related scientific field
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering
  • Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
  • Skill in effective verbal and written communication, including active listening and adapting communication style to the audience
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards and Instrumentation and Controls engineering design criteria
  • Experience developing Instrumentation and Controls deliverables such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (PIDs), Input/Output Lists (I/O), Interconnect Diagrams, Block Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, Schematics, Panel arrangement drawings, Datasheets, Bills of Material (BOMs), and Engineering Work Packages (EWPs).
  • Familiarity with Control narratives and philosophies
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation and Control Systems including PLC, DCS, Networking, and E&I database software
  • Knowledge of industry standard Electrical design practices
  • Experience in a capital project design office
  • Experience with mining and metallurgical process facilities
  • Advanced degree and/or Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification
