About The Position

The Engineer II is responsible to perform a variety of skilled tasks, installation, repair and troubleshooting work involved with all aspects of buildings, facilities systems and equipment with an emphasis on HVAC work. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have journeyman or higher skillset for this position.
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of building and guest room maintenance.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to effectively identify and resolve maintenance issues.
  • Demonstrates a high level of personal responsibility for the safety of self and others.
  • Knowledge of MSDS, occupational hazards, and applicable safety standards and regulations.
  • Understanding of basic methods and best practices used in preventive maintenance and repair work.
  • Proficient in the safe operation of power tools and related equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and effectively communicate in English.
  • Consistently delivers outstanding guest service for both internal and external customers.
  • Capable of accurately maintaining and completing work orders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset to enhance efficiency and results.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and repairing equipment associated with building maintenance operations.
  • Ability to order supplies and maintain established material par levels.
  • Valid Nevada driver license

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all hotel buildings, guest rooms, public areas, and mechanical equipment are maintained in a safe, clean, and orderly condition in compliance with all applicable Health Department, Fire/Life Safety, OSHA, and local regulatory requirements. Performs routine safety inspections and immediately addresses or reports unsafe conditions.
  • Performs skilled maintenance, installation, repair, and troubleshooting of building systems and equipment with a primary emphasis on HVAC systems, including air handlers, fan coil units, exhaust systems, thermostats, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and associated control systems.
  • Diagnoses HVAC malfunctions using technical knowledge, test instruments, and building automation systems; determines corrective action and completes repairs efficiently to minimize guest impact and system downtime.
  • Conducts preventive maintenance on HVAC and related mechanical systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications, hotel standards, and preventive maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
  • Assists with installation, startup, balancing, and modification of HVAC equipment and components, including ductwork, motors, belts, filters, controls, valves, and refrigerant lines.
  • Responds promptly to guest and operational HVAC service requests, demonstrating strong customer service skills while maintaining professionalism and discretion in occupied guest areas.
  • Maintains accurate records of work performed, parts used, and system conditions by completing documentation and work orders within the hotel’s maintenance management system.
  • Monitors and adjusts HVAC systems to ensure occupant comfort while supporting the hotel’s energy management and sustainability initiatives.
  • Coordinates with Engineering leadership, vendors, and contractors on HVAC‑related projects, inspections, and repairs as assigned.
  • Follows all safety procedures related to electrical systems, refrigerants, chemicals, and pressurized equipment, including proper use of PPE and adherence to MSDS requirements.
  • Supports general maintenance operations as needed, performing related skilled tasks involving plumbing, electrical, or mechanical systems within scope of training and certification.
