Microchip has an opportunity for an Engineer II-Equipment (Diffusion) at our Fab 4 facility in Gresham, Oregon. The Diffusion Equipment Engineer installs, supports and maintains high-temperature diffusion furnace equipment. They respond when tools are down and assist technicians with hands on troubleshooting (hardware, software, sensors, etc.) to keep the fab operating reliably. They are expected to contribute to continuous improvement in their area of responsibility to ensure the support of Microchip's "Vital Few" priorities. The Equipment Engineer writes and edits specifications, manuals and procedures for tool maintenance, and they ensure that tools are up and running by anticipating what parts need to be in stock and what parts can be rebuilt. They are responsible for root cause problem solving and improvement of overall tool cost of ownership. The Equipment Engineer coordinates with Production, Process Engineering, Site Services and Safety, and they supervise the equipment technicians in their functional area. Hands-on experience as an Equipment Technician is preferred. Training and onboarding for candidates without hand-on experience will require 6+ months training with an experienced technician to gain practical, real-world knowledge of diffusion furnaces.
