About The Position

Performs a variety of fundamental engineering tasks under close supervision in design, development, manufacturing, testing, installation, integration, sustainment, operations, and maintenance of software, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment and systems. Work is at an entry level, involves deadlines, and is generally performed as a member of a development, sustainment, or operations & maintenance team.

Requirements

Must have professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles and a familiarity with related engineering fields.
Must have practical knowledge of test methods and practices sufficient to perform routine to more complex engineering procedures and to prepare or make minor modifications of standard test procedures or test equipment work instructions.
Candidate must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines.
Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools.
Candidate must possess a valid, state issued driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.
A Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution is required for this position.

Nice To Haves

Experience designing, implementing, and testing hardware & software configurations for aircraft platform simulators or other advanced network/computing environments
Experience using test equipment such as: Ethernet cable tester, Digital multi meter, fiber inspection scope, ethernet/fiber cable analyzer.
Interpret building blue prints, electrical and mechanical schematics, and rack elevation & wiring diagrams
Build and test shielded Ethernet cables and single/multi-mode fiber lines.
Troubleshoot and maintain Projection/video systems.
Basic computer networking skills with some administrative tasks.
Familiarity with virtualization technologies & how to manage, configure, & troubleshoot multiple VM instances on host machine(s)
Familiarity with Linux (preferably RHEL 7.0+) command line and desktop interfaces
Familiarity with HOTAS (hands on throttle and stick) style flight controls
Familiarity with KVM consoles/switches, as well as remote management protocols (rdp, ssh, etc.)

Responsibilities

Conducts research and reference reading to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining technical information; keeps informed of currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to engineering specialty.
Performs fundamental engineering tasks requiring standard techniques such as tolerance studies and design calculations.
Plans and carries out successive engineering steps and resolves technical problems by standard practices and techniques.
Supports projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects with detailed instructions on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared.
Studies currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to the engineering specialty.
Assists in preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies.
Performs all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
