About The Position

The CNC Engineer ensures operational efficiency by overseeing machine health, optimizing tooling and fixturing, and maintaining strict process compliance. This role acts as the technical bridge between production needs and maintenance execution, managing both internal tasks and external service providers to minimize quality rejections and maximize throughput.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent combination of technical education and 3+ years of experience in CNC environments
  • Strong understanding of CNC equipment capabilities and tooling requirements to troubleshoot process failures
  • Proven experience in Six Sigma, 6S, and Lean Manufacturing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for tracking logs and SolidWorks for design collaboration
  • Exceptional communication skills for reporting repair statuses and coordinating with external vendors

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production to ensure correct tooling and fixtures are utilized and provide technical support to upgrade tooling strategies for higher output
  • Audit and verify that Work Instructions (WI) and manufacturing processes are being followed accurately across the CNC departments
  • Act as the technical lead when machines are down to prioritize maintenance technicians and ensure a rapid return-to-service
  • Maintain a detailed status log of all equipment awaiting repair, tracking the progress of internal work and the availability of parts
  • Manage the scheduling and completion of all Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks performed by the maintenance team
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external repair shops and OEM technicians, coordinating their arrival and supervising their on-site work
  • Participate as a core member of the troubleshooting team to solve scrap and quality issues, using root-cause analysis to implement permanent fixes
  • Partner with Quality Engineering to validate process capability and reduce defects
  • Implement engineering controls, guarding improvements, and ergonomic solutions to ensure a safe working environment
  • Conduct time studies and apply Lean principles to simplify workflows and reduce machine changeover times
