About The Position

LCEC provides reliable, cost-competitive electricity to more than 250,000 members throughout a five-county service territory located in Southwest Florida. Position Summary: Investigate inquiries regarding power quality or voltage problems. Conduct analysis of locations experiencing abnormal frequency of outages and/or service interruptions. Provide support to Customer Service Representatives and Account Executives with regards to power quality issues or voltage problems from customers.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering. (Required)
  • 3 years' engineering experience. (Required)
  • 2 years' experience in a power engineering profession. (Required)
  • 1 year of experience in an E&O engineering role. (Required)
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Professional Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with all levels within and outside of the organization. (Required)
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and demands. (Required)
  • Strong analytical, decision analysis and problem-solving skills. (Required)
  • Ability to work effectively in high-energy and fast-paced environment. (Required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. (Required)
  • Florida driver's license or ability to obtain one, upon hire. (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Masters' degree in Electrical Engineering. (Preferred)
  • Licensed professional engineer. (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain reports and analyze data relevant to customer related issues regarding power quality or voltage concerns.
  • Review and analyze voltage recordings and perform post-fault event analysis. Based on analysis, make recommendations for equipment upgrades or change-outs in a cost-effective manner.
  • Perform tasks required to document and track equipment upgrades and/or change-outs in the work order management and customer information systems.
  • Direct correspondence with customers to gain better understanding of power quality issues and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and solve power quality related issues for individual residential customers, and work with Account Executives to mitigate power issues for Commercial / Industrial customers, with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in maintaining of data/indices associated with power quality such as Momentary Average Interruption Frequency Index (MAIFI), and Customers Exceeding Multiple Interruptions (CEMI5).
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert with regards power quality related problems.
  • Prepare and maintain power quality specifications and standards in compliance with industry guidelines and good engineering practices.
  • Evaluate application of new power quality monitoring equipment.
  • Provide technical support to construction crews with regards to power quality issues.
  • Participate on project teams for large scope projects.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels within LCEC. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.
  • Support Storm Restoration efforts when needed. Work in emergency storm situations (i.e. hurricanes) and work long hours (>12 hours per day) for many continuous days/weeks as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
