About The Position

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking an Engineer I to join their Parametric Test and Device Characterization team. This role is crucial for facilitating manufacturing and technology transfer by developing, deploying, and reporting electrical device characterization results. The position offers a unique opportunity to characterize traditional CMOS and interconnect, as well as innovative devices. The successful candidate will collaborate with various engineering teams including yield engineering, process, product engineering, failure analysis, modeling, and reliability. Requirements

  • Demonstrated passion and ability to independently learn about a wide range of devices
  • Proficiency in semiconductor device characterization and instrumentation
  • Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics, electrical measurement and wafer processing
  • Self-motivation and determination to find innovative solutions to challenges
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience in operating and automating semiconductor instrumentation including, but not limited to, Parameter Analyzers, SMU, LCR Meters, Oscilloscopes, Pulse and Waveform Generators, Wafer Probers, ATE and bench systems
  • Proficiency in a variety of software tools and operating systems, including VB, Python, C/C++, Unix/Linux, JMP/JSL
  • Knowledge of statistical data analysis
  • Understanding of CMOS operation
  • Knowledge of circuit operation and device operation in controllers, memory systems, and HV devices
  • A BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Material Science
  • 0-3 years of professional experience
  • Proof of either US citizenship, Permanent US residency or classification as a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b (a) (3) for U.S. Export Controls Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with various departments within Microchip
  • Managing the design, development, and usage of test equipment and supporting areas
  • Taking ownership of debugging and implementing electrical characterization for a range of semiconductor devices
  • Utilizing data analytical skills and experience in automating data analysis methods
