MRL is Pratt and Whitney’s method to industrialize new products and technologies in a standardized way that allows us to achieve quality, delivery, and cost targets. Execution of MRL elements to drive process control will dramatically improve the company’s quality and delivery signature. The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for specific processes or process family MRL advancement through the execution of MRL elements such as PFMEA, MEA and control plans etc. The scope of this role will include both PW internal shop and supply chain components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Science Engineering
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in one or more of the following processes i.e. Thermal Plasma Spray, Heat Treatment, Surface Treatment, Brazing or Chemical Cleaning processes
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • CORE/Six Sigma Practitioner/professional certification
  • Understanding of continuous improvement concepts: DFSS, Red-X, Lean, etc.
  • Able to use Minitab and other statistical software such as SAP
  • Ability to program Fanuc robots
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

Responsibilities

  • Provide production support across multiple manufacturing processes i.e., Thermal Plasma Spray, Heat Treatment, Surface Treatment and/or Brazing
  • With specific process(es) ownership, this role will drive manufacturing process improvements across multiple operations that may span the full value stream of part.
  • Identify & implement process optimization & control methods to eliminate/prevent quality turn backs /escapes and reduce overall product costs.
  • Work within Integrated Product Teams (IPT), consisting of product and tool designers, quality assurance, systems designers, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Use statistical analysis tools to perform root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Drive targeted manufacturing process optimization activities through MRL tools such as Value Stream Mapping and Process Flow Diagram, PFMEA, Measurement Systems Analysis & Process Yields monitoring etc.
  • Support the project pipeline process to select, prioritize and scope projects to business objectives, integrated with other continuous improvement activities and CORE initiatives; lead significant projects critical to improve manufacturing process capability & quality performance.
