Basic Function: Under minimal supervision of more senior engineering staff, assists in the planning, design and development of technical standards for gas distribution infrastructure projects. This position is typically assigned to perform basic tasks and analysis on larger projects or perform standard tasks on all phases of smaller projects. Higher grade levels will work independently on complex assignments. Tasks assigned to a more senior Engineer often involve the consistent recognition and development of new or improved products/processes or techniques that significantly impact how Virginia Natural Gas does business on a daily basis. This position is being posted as part of a job family. The position may be filled at either the Engineer I, II or III level. Team Members who demonstrate advanced skills in terms of work experience, education and certifications may be eligible for the advanced grade. Position will be required to perform the following engineering disciplines: Design - Performs engineering assignments involved in the design of components, features or functionality of pipeline products and operations. Compliance - Conducts audits/reviews and tests to ensure compliance with government/industry regulations and standards. Systems - Performs engineering assignments involving gas operations, system modeling and system design. Project - Performs engineering assignments as part of a work team involved in planning, organizing, developing and managing complex projects. Mechanical/Maintenance - Performs engineering tasks involved in the planning and design of mechanical equipment and components and associated tasks involving maintenance of mechanical equipment.
