The base rate of pay for this classification will be starts off at $48.37 hourly and can go up to $75.05 base off experience. The position will be posted for 10 Working Days from November 19, 2025 to December 4th, 2025. Xcel Energy is hiring a Nuclear Programs Engineer to be based out of the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant in Welch, Minnesota. The Nuclear Programs Engineer provides oversight and support to ensure that the plant meets industry standards and regulatory requirements, equipment is monitored, tested and maintained to ensure station reliability, procedures and processes are in place to manage the programs, and assessments are conducted to make improvements. Candidates with 2+ years of experience are preferred. Plant and nuclear programs or similar experience is preferred (including but not limited to: in-service testing and in-service inspection). The below description and requirements are for the Engineer II level within the Engineering hierarchy, however this position may be filled at a higher level, which may have additional requirements. The successful candidate will be placed at a level that is commensurate with the candidate's skills and experience. Summary This is a continuing development level for professional engineering work in a nuclear power generation environment. Typically performs engineer work at a competent level but works under some supervision on more complex aspects of functional assignments. The Engineer II outlines plan for design, development or implementation of specific projects assigned with minimal supervision. Competently performs routine engineering work requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria required to carry out a sequence of related engineering tasks. The Engineer II may be assigned tasks in one or more of the nuclear engineering disciplines (e.g. systems, design, programs, electrical, materials, civil/structural, nuclear fuels, procurement or regulatory affairs).
