About The Position

Weston & Sampson is currently seeking a Civil or Environmental Engineer with 0-3 years of experience in our expanding Carolina offices in Columbia, Charleston, or Greenville, South Carolina. This role is ideal for a motivated engineer who enjoys a mix of field work and office work, values mentorship, and wants to develop a strong technical foundation. All our staff contribute meaningfully to environmental and infrastructure projects across South Carolina and the East Coast. What You’ll Do In this role, you’ll work alongside experienced project managers and engineers while steadily gaining responsibility and technical depth. Hands‑On Field & Project Experience You’ll gain practical, real‑world experience on a variety of environmental and civil engineering projects, including: Solid and hazardous waste facility monitoring, permitting, and design Brownfield site assessments, environmental monitoring, and redevelopment projects Building abatement, demolition oversight, and underground storage tank removals Site civil and stormwater design projects supporting local and regional infrastructure Soil and groundwater remediation projects Field Investigations & Compliance You’ll participate in field work such as: Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and SPCC inspections Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments Drilling observation, soil logging, and monitoring well installation Soil, groundwater, and air sampling for environmental assessments Construction observation Engineering & Collaboration Coordinate and develop permit applications, feasibility studies, and investigation, compliance, and regulatory reports Support preparation of engineering design documents including plans, details, specifications, and cost estimates Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams during project design and construction phases Review contractor submittals and respond to requests for information under the guidance of senior staff Throughout your work, you’ll be supported with mentorship, training, and structured opportunities to grow your technical and professional skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Interest in or exposure to field‑based engineering work (experience is welcome but not required)
  • Willingness to work outdoors and support active field assignments across South Carolina and other states
  • Strong collaboration skills and a desire to take ownership of tasks and learn from project teams
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet and word‑processing software
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally or regionally for field assignments

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or interest in pursuing one is a plus
  • Experience or interest in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or drafting is a plus (training available)
