National Grid is hiring an Engineer, Gas Planning and Design Engineering for our NY Gas Distribution Engineering department in Brightwaters, NY.

Job Purpose
Responsible for the engineering, design and technical oversight during construction of projects relating to the gas distribution network.Key Accountabilities

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline, science, or project management
• Minimum of 1 - 3 years of engineering or project management experience
• Understanding of utility construction industry standards, regulations and contract terms
• Valid driver's license required

Responsibilities

• Prioritize work and manage multiple projects within budget and schedule milestones
• Establish and maintain relationships internally in a team environment as well as externally with all parties including municipal stakeholders.
• Adopt corporate safety culture and incorporate safety process and procedures into project portfolio
• Identify and acquire the necessary permits, licenses, and land rights associated with the project
• Compile job work packages and coordinate engineering design and project planning services to ensure that construction projects are effectively specified and estimated prior to handover to performing organizations.
• Provide project status updates, attend scope review and coordination meetings when required.
• Actively engage on sight in project management of the gas design project during construction phase.
