Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in the design of BIW structures, including all three phases of product development (design, test and launch).
  • Skilled in utilizing CATIA for designing and developing detailed parts.
  • Strong technical skills and expertise in sheet metal design, coupled with a 1st principles approach to problem solving.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.
  • An ability to build strong working relationships with people across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and suppliers
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., MATLAB, Minitab, Excel).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the sheet metal design and release of front structure stampings and assemblies for new products, ensuring innovative and optimized solutions for Scout trucks.
  • Manage the design of parts to meet cost, weight, and vehicle performance targets at all design milestones.
  • Conduct analysis of sections, components, and sub-systems to drive the design of part to support the overall vehicle efficiencies.
  • Develop CAD to support design alternative studies and production development of parts.
  • Participate in collaborative design and creation of a simulation environment for testing new body system concepts and ideas related to vehicle handling, safety features, and overall driving experience.
  • Support the development prototypes for virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing.
  • Proactively stay attuned to consumer experience and propose system improvements accordingly.
  • Manage resources efficiently including supplier partners.
  • Be a key member within the body structures team and liaison with all Scout functions.
