About The Position

The Failure Analysis Team’s mission is to determine root cause and contributing factors to improve the experience of Tesla’s products by reducing field issues, in collaboration with large cross-sections of other engineering teams. Engineers and Technicians on the team are responsible for a wide variety of vehicle and energy product systems for existing models and models in development. This extremely high visibility individual contributor role requires extensive hands-on work focused on failure analysis and root cause activities. We are seeking a skilled electrical engineer who will be responsible for all aspects of identifying and characterizing failures on our low voltage electronics. The successful candidate would work directly with the original design engineers and other failure analysis engineers to complete failure analysis and propose countermeasures. This role will primarily focus on low voltage electrical systems including infotainment, vehicle controllers, autopilot electronics, and steering actuators. A successful candidate will need to become familiar with the detailed behaviors and system level interactions of these components. They will work with all manners of electrical test equipment to recreate and identify failures observed in engineering, production, and field environments. They will work cross functionally with other engineers and management to report root cause, investigation status and other relevant information. As an industry leading company, Tesla offers the opportunity to work on industry leading products and bleeding edge technology in a fast paced, dynamic and high visibility role.
