About The Position

Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems. This is a lead engineer role that requires project management skills. The candidate will fulfill the role as an agile product owner. The candidate will perform and support research and development associated with a network control system. The applicant should be detail oriented, an experienced technical writer, possess excellent communication skills, and works well in a collaborative work environment. Candidate should be able to manage a large project and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
