Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems. Applies engineering technical expertise and demonstrates flexibility to tackle multiple types of engineering issues. The candidate will be expected to communicate with various internal and external customers including Navy personnel, various NNS departments, and equipment manufacturers. Therefore, the candidate must have excellent communication skills, both verbally and written. This team is tasked with design cognizance of power generation equipment used in aircraft carriers. This equipment contains several mechanical and electrical components including a turbine, valves, pumps, and a control system. Additionally, the position will balance long term projects with short term emergent work. The candidate must have good problem solving skills and be able quickly draw solutions to difficult shipboard and supplier production issues that are technically correct, cost effective, and complete.
