About The Position

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. This position is intended for the propulsion plant power distribution group in Department E83. The incumbent will be responsible for developing improvements and detail design requirements for aircraft carrier power distribution systems. This position regularly communicates with US Navy personnel and Engineers/Designers across Departments via email, phone, and in person meetings.The ideal candidate will have excellent writing skills with the ability to write technical documents clearly and accurately. Work in small or large groups with technical and nontechnical customers, including U.S. government and Navy personnel. The position may require visits and work onboard U.S. Navy vessels.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience;
Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience;
Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with U.S. Navy power distribution systems, and components, to include: switchboards, load centers, transformers, bus transfers, circuit breakers, controllers, and associated specifications.
A Master's degree, professional engineering license, or military experience is desired but not required.
