Who we’re looking for Toyota’s Battery Manufacturing Production Engineering Division is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Production Engineer to support the successful line-off of North America’s 1st battery production site for prismatic lithium-ion battery cells and modules to charge Toyota’s future. The primary responsibility of this role is to procure, install, and validate Battery equipment to support new model launches. This position will be located at Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina and will report to an assigned Engineering Manager for Battery Implementation Team. What you’ll be doing Promote a safe working environment in all construction and manufacturing areas. Working in a collaborative team environment (supporting other Engineers, Construction Management Group, Technicians, Vendors, General Contractors, etc.) to achieve project milestones. Participating in cost planning, budget creation, machine specification, procurement, validation, installation, pre-productions trials and launch of battery production lines Creating and maintaining detailed schedule and budget for assigned area Participate in cross functional working groups across the local facility and corporate departments to achieve project goals Punchlist item identification, root cause analysis, and countermeasure management Participate in a mentor program to grow as an engineer and learn from others within the department Participate in advanced cleanliness protocols (clean room) necessary for assigned area of battery manufacturing. Construction / Equipment installations Completing internal and external training Battery Trial phases, through SOP Ability to work weekend and shutdown work (such as July and December holidays) as needed Business travel up to 25%

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar technical field
  • Experience in production preparation of manufacturing and experience in execution of capital projects, preferably from initial planning to start of production applicable co-op experience included
  • Experience and/or exposure to the battery manufacturing processes
  • Experience in creating and implementing processes in a manufacturing environment applicable co-op experience included
  • Experience in detail schedule using, created and utilization on capital projects applicable co-op experience included
  • Budget experience tracking, using for manufacturing projects applicable co-op experience included
  • AutoCAD experience, including the ability to read, interpret and modify 2D drawings

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering / Technology
  • Toyota Production Engineering Co-Op experience
  • Toyota Production Engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of NFPA, NEC, ANSI, OSHA or other government regulated standards
  • Toyota Business Practice experience
  • PLC experience, including the ability to read, investigate and troubleshoot.
  • Japanese language ability (Rank N1-N5)
