About The Position

Responsible for developing and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems for the operation of equipment and machinery used in manufacturing, including documenting, developing, implementing, and sustaining equipment and machines for the production, validation and inspection of product. This position works under minimal supervision and may provide direction to a team of direct reports.

Requirements

  • Advanced understanding of automated equipment and processes
  • Ability to develop machines and equipment for the automated assembly of products and components
  • Ability to organize documentation and work such that it is understandable by peers and can be used in debug and trouble shooting
  • Ability to assign tasks in an orderly manner and ensure completion by technicians
  • Ability to debug and troubleshoot equipment for technical problems. This requires a basic understanding of the mechanical functions of the machines so that the source of the issue can be identified
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint at an intermediate level
  • Ability to document schematics using computer programs such as CAD or Visio
  • Ability to organize machine functions into a flow chart
  • Ability to integrate multiple pieces of equipment or stations into a system
  • Ability to problem solve and manage multiple priorities on a daily basis
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • 2 years’ minimum relevant experience including the development and maintenance of machines and equipment used in manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Design of mechanical and/or electrical systems for equipment and machines under the direction of a senior automation engineer or manager to support manufacturing
  • Develop systems to control actuators, servos, motion controllers, and vision systems
  • Document systems for equipment and machines using appropriate processes in accordance with safety requirements and quality system procedures
  • Specify and order components needed to support the operation of equipment
  • Debug, troubleshoot and repair equipment and machinery in support of production, quality and design engineering groups
  • Assemble, install, and debug equipment purchased or developed internally
  • Document operating manuals for equipment and machines developed internally or purchased
  • Provide drafting and mechanical drawings for production components and equipment
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned
