As Vessel Engineer you will be responsible to ensure all vessel machinery, equipment and systems are run, maintained and repaired in a safe and effective way.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a 4000 DDE license preferred.
  • Valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential required/PIC and HAZWOPER preferred.
  • Valid Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Minimum of three years of previous experience during the last 15 years as a Marine Engineer (Preferably the least three as a Chief Engineer).
  • Skilled with various equipment, namely what equipment is best suited to handle the job at hand.
  • Extensive knowledge of Maritime law and current updates.
  • Skilled with equipment best suited to handle the job at hand.
  • Lodging and provisions on the vessel.
  • Must be physically fit to climb aboard tugs and barges, ascend and descend ladders and balance while aboard vessels in a seaway; kneel, stoop, use stairs, reach overhead, and stand for long periods.
  • Comfortable with heights or narrow walkways.
  • Must be able to work 12 hours a day every day.
  • Exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, etc.).
  • Year-round work, typical shift is two weeks on/off.

Nice To Haves

  • Marine operations background and familiar with shipyards and tugs(preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining all machinery, equipment and systems, including main propulsion, auxiliary power generation, ancillary, deck and cargo handling.
  • Ensuring proper operations of control, monitoring, and alarm components and systems all while maintaining a safe work environment on the vessel.
  • Implementing company policies and procedures, and general maritime industry standards wherever applicable.
  • Checking and maintaining fuel/fluid levels in all tanks within the vessel, taking monthly oil samples for analysis and is responsible for vessel bunkering operations, as well as, following established fueling procedures, maintaining adequate inventory levels of critical spares and general vessel parts.
  • Working on deck as assigned by Captain.
  • Other duties as assigned.
