About The Position

The Civil Engineer is responsible for a variety of Civil Engineering projects focused on transportation, water, wastewater, and civil site in both rural and urban Alaska. Responsibilities Participate in marketing, writing proposals, winning work, and developing and maintaining client relationships. Initiate, plan, execute, and close small to large size civil infrastructure projects. Perform design tasks and/or lead a design team on various civil infrastructure projects, including roads, water, wastewater, stormwater, and site civil. Coordinate the work of a design team and outside consultants to develop Plans, Specifications and Estimate packages for multiple projects and a variety of clients. Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction; ensure client objectives are met Train and mentor young professionals This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required.
  • Alaska Professional Engineer registration required.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ engineering experience required, with a background in water and sewer design preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience managing small or large projects and professional staff required.
  • Solid understanding of civil design and construction standards, and environmental conditions and constraints.
  • Proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets.
  • Demonstrated skills developing relationships with municipal and state agencies in support of transportation and/or site civil projects.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MS software applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff and management.
  • Adaptability and ability to respond quickly and accurately under pressure.
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with State of Alaksa Village Safe Water, Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, and/or USDA Rural Development preferred.
  • background in water and sewer design preferred.
