Job Title: Eng., Staff Project Reporting To: Manager Staff, SDG Engineering Work Schedule: Onsite – Buffalo, NY Moog Space and Defense has an important opportunity in WNY Defense for a Staff Project Engineer to support programs spanning various domains including ground vehicle solutions, naval applications, and tactical missiles. The immediate need is for a Technical Leader on several Missile Systems programs. The ideal candidate will be counted on to be a strong, experienced project engineer, but also one who is a role model to other engineers, and exhibits the culture and character qualities that Moog, and specifically Defense Sector value the most. The successful candidate will have an onsite work schedule in East Aurora, NY Plant 20.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 15 years of experience or a master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of experience. Including 5 years of experience as a technical project manager and leader for a cross-functional team.
  • Classical and modern control systems knowledge.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with actuation system architecture.
  • Familiary with MIL-STD environmental testing including work with external test partners
  • Ability to work independently with a strong technical foundation.
  • Proficient with EVMS reporting.
  • Strong experience in the preparation of engineering reports associated with assigned projects and/or models.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

  • Multi-Disciplinary Engineering (Software, Hardware, Electrical, Mathematics, Physics) experience and/or exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical POC to our customers on development programs.
  • Lead bid and proposal of new projects providing scope definitions, defining project schedules, assessing technical compliance, technical volume generation, and providing engineering cost estimates.
  • Manage projects and activities in a multiple project environment to meet high demand schedules, cost targets, and technical requirements.
  • Lead corrective action and lessons learned implementation for systems engineering processes.
  • Develop standard works and work package descriptions for systems and lead engineering team.
  • Present concepts, data, and recommendations to management and customers and generate buy in for solutions.
  • Lead engineering team to drive creative solutions to difficult programmatic and technical challenges.
  • Communicate issues to site level management when resolutions cannot be implemented at a group level.
  • Mentor other early career project engineers.
  • Assist in the interviewing, hiring, appraisal, mentoring and professional development of team's staff.
  • Support lab and field testing.
  • Occasional travel required.
