WARREN RURAL ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE CORPORATION ENGINEERING AND FIELD SERVICES DEPARTMENT ENERGY SERVICES TECHNICIAN I Provides world-class service and support to all Warren RECC Members. Performs efficient installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure System and metering equipment. Assists with Commercial and Residential Power Quality. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports to: Advanced Metering Supervisor/Advanced Power Quality Supervisor Directs: None RESPONSIBILITIES Performs Instrument Rated Metering Installations. Performs daily AMI maintenance utilizing AMI Software, DT-400 programming laptop, NISC applications and ArcGIS Mapping software. Performs field testing of self-contained and IT rated metering installations. Creates appropriate service orders and assigns them as needed. Troubleshoots all power quality related issues supporting members and Warren RECC team members. Prefabricates primary and secondary metering equipment installations. Determines the proper current and potential transformers needed based off of load sheet and transformer ratings. Assemble and label specialty meter bases for pickup by electricians and members. Test and verify CTs, PTs, meters, and wiring of all C&I accounts according to defined standards. Performs yearly voltmeter testing and maintenance. Communicates with members about billing, metering, and power quality issues. Performs monthly idle meter audits and disconnects service if needed. Utilizes meter manufacturer software to program Itron, Aclara and SEL meters. Assists with annual oil sampling on Warren RECC owned commercial and industrial distribution equipment and maintains detailed records in NISC. Supports Energy Services Team in providing 24-hour support, 7 days per week, 365 days per year to commercial and industrial Members. Available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary to support Member requests. Supports other Warren RECC teams as necessary including but not limited to: System Control Center, Substation and Equipment Maintenance, Staking, Metering, and line personnel. Supports Warren RECC safety trailer demonstrations. Supports Warren RECC AMI initiatives as it relates to power quality. Installs, programs, disconnects, downloads, reviews, and reports data from metering devices. Works according to safety rules and policies adopted by Warren RECC, is responsible for own safety, and reports all accidents to supervisor. Complies with traffic laws, regulations, and safe practices while operating company vehicles. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of two years electrical (utility or industrial) work experience desired.
  • Must begin training within first year of position with the expectation that training will be required continually to maintain proficiency with changing technology, applicable standards, and member needs.
  • Must have knowledge of working with computers and tablets, and the software associated with each.
  • Work independently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Proficient knowledge of using computer systems which will include multiple software packages.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Work cohesively in a team-based environment.
  • Strong Emotional Intelligence.
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive personal information and respect members' right to privacy.
  • Possess technical skills related to basic electricity principles.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a valid medical card or be able to obtain one in 180 days.
  • Must not be color blind.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school or two-year college graduate with completion of courses that support job qualifications, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is desired.
  • Working knowledge of utility operations preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of metering principles
  • Working knowledge of AMI communications and software
  • Medical card with bucket truck certification
  • Working knowledge of National Electric Safety Code
  • Working knowledge of National Electric Code
  • Working knowledge of the WRECC Service Territory
  • Training in mapping systems software

Responsibilities
