General Definition of Work: Responsible for evaluating and repairing all electronic/pneumatic control systems in Albemarle County Schools. Complies with safety standards in accordance with Albemarle County guidelines. This position is designated as "Essential Personnel", which requires that employees report to their job site during emergency situations, such as snow, inclement weather, or other emergency situations. May be on call 24 hours, 7 days a week for emergency situations, including weather and other building emergencies.

  • Installs Energy Management Control Systems
  • Evaluates and repairs thermostats in school division
  • Evaluates and repairs all control valves in school division
  • Performs preventive maintenance on all energy management systems
  • Diagnoses trouble or defects in sensors, field cabinets, or control console and determines corrective actions
  • Calibrates all controllers, transmitters and gauges on boilers, chillers, converters, pumps and zone controls
  • Performs preventive and direct maintenance to all HVAC unit controls and fan systems in the school division
  • In cooperation with the supervisor, purchases parts and equipment needed for the division
  • Serves as an inspector when new HVAC systems are installed in the schools
  • Makes recommendations for energy conservation
  • Performs related duties as required
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in installing and repairing interfacing energy management systems.
  • Familiar with control logic, including electrical/pneumatic interfacing.
  • Some basic knowledge of programming and some basic experience in electrical/pneumatic experience e for trouble shooting control circuitry.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school or vocational school and three or more years experience in pneumatic controls and supplemented by energy management interfacing in the controls field.
  • Possession of a valid drivers license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Must obtain a commercial drivers license within 6 months of employment.
