About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking an Energy Project Manager to join our Power & Manufacturing – Generation & Energy Management Team at our Albany, NY; Syracuse, NY; Rochester, NY; or Brooklyn, NY office. What You'll Do: CHA is a leader in sustainable district energy, power and thermal generation systems. Our approach includes critical systems that are maintainable and operable with redundant, fail-safe backups. Our expertise encompasses gas turbines, steam turbines, reciprocating engines, gas plants, biomass plants, coal-fired boiler plants, chiller plants, high-voltage substation, and more. From the early stages of master planning and permitting through comprehensive detailed design, we partner with our clients to create solutions that provide reliable, sustainable energy. At CHA, the Project Manager works diligently to complete projects within the scope, budget, and schedule. This key role is responsible for managing the overall client relationship including any technical, financial, or logistical issues that may arise. Our Project Managers are skilled collaborators who are experts at problem solving and adapting and staying calm under pressure. The Project Manager sells and develops work with specific clients, ultimately leading to a “seller/doer” dual role. By understanding our clients’ challenges, building partnerships with them, and providing creative solutions to those challenges, the Project Manager will not only develop existing clients but also establish new ones. The Project Manager coordinates contracts with the client, subcontractors, purchase orders, daily correspondence, and all other project related documents. The Project Manager is responsible for all project financials, and reviews/manages/approves subcontractor payments. The Project Manager clearly communicates updates to the client, management, and project team, as well as prepares for and attends monthly project review meetings with operations. The Project Manager develops project specific health and safety plans in coordination with health and safety manager and communicates the plan with the project team, as well as monitors the plan. The Project Manager is responsible for verifying that projects meet required QA/QC compliance as determined by Quality Management Plan. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related degree is required
  • A minimum of 9 years of industry experience required; a minimum of 6 years of project management experience required
  • Experience preparing proposals, project plans, extra work authorizations and project closeout documents for projects required
  • Experience managing project accounting processes to include project budgeting, forecasts and cash management required
  • Experience understanding and interpreting client contract requirements
  • Ability to track and oversee multiple projects required
  • An articulate and persuasive communicator with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and other management software
  • Ability to travel as needed required
  • Consulting industry experience highly preferred

Nice To Haves

  • PE or equivalent professional license preferred
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Experience with NYSERDA preferred
  • Knowledge of Deltek Vision preferred
  • Knowledge of MS Project and/or Primavera P6 preferred
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task effectively
  • A self-starter who excels in a high-paced work environment and work well independently
